PERFORMERS

Thomas Bergeron, trumpeter, educator, conductor, composer, producer and arts leader, is currently Lecturer in Trumpet at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Principal Trumpet with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, where he also guest conducts. Thomas has appeared on dozens of classical and jazz albums and produced three records of original music with his hybrid jazz chamber ensemble. He is a former member of Carnegie Hall's resident Ensemble Connect and the Atlantic Brass Quintet, which premiered and recorded many of his arrangements. Thomas was the Director of Music at Deerfield Academy for nine years, where he held the J. Clement Schuler Distinguished Chair. He directed the Deerfield Orchestra, the nationally recognized chamber music program, and a pop/hip-hop band; taught classes in music production and composition; produced the guest artist and Cultural Exchange Through Music programs and music community service projects; and oversaw the 32-member music faculty team. Thomas  holds two advanced music degrees from Yale, where he won the Woolsey Hall Concerto Competition and received the John Swallow Award for excellence in brass playing. He also holds a Business Management degree from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst, where he graduated with honors.
