We are the musicians of Springfield’s Symphony Orchestra. We produce and present live, world-class, professional performances in our region with an emphasis on our home in Springfield. The acronym MOSSO is a common musical term from the Italian language indicating that music should move forward.

On Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 3pm MOSSO will present a FREE concert of the MOSSO Brass Quintet! The performance is generously sponsored by the Recording Industry’s Music Performance Trust Fund.

Kevin Rhodes, Conductor

MOSSO: The Return of the Rhodes

On Thursday, July 21, Maestro Kevin Rhodes will return to Springfield to conduct a program of film music by John Williams on Thursday, July 21, at 7:30 PM in Springfield Symphony Hall. MOSSO will perform excerpts from Williams’ scores to ET, Schindler’s List, Superman, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and more. Some popular classics, including Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville, Massenet’s Meditation from Thaïs, and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite open the program. Maestro Rhodes will be joined by guest soloist, violinist Yevgeny Kutik. This will be a benefit concert for MOSSO, so that the nonprofit organization can continue to deliver professional symphonic music to Greater Springfield and Western Massachusetts.

Broadway Conductor Tim Stella

Celebrating Stephen Sondheim

On Thursday, June 23, MOSSO celebrated the music of the late, legendary Broadway composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim, who penned the words and music to A Funny Thing Happened on The Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, and others. Broadway conductor Tim Stella (of The Phantom of The Opera and Hello, Dolly!) lead the program, joined by some major Broadway stars. The program will be announced later this month.

Broadway stars Hugh Panaro (The Phantom of the Opera, Side Show, Les Misérables) and Lisa Vroman (The Phantom of The Opera) with him! Ron Raines (Follies) and Florence Lacey (The Grand Tour, Hello, Dolly! and Follies) also joined Tim Stella and the Musicians of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
